A health center in Tucum\u00e1n in northwestern Argentina has implemented a new patient identification system using a wristband that will eventually contain a link to the patient's medical record.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Every patient admitted to the Zen\u00f3n Santill\u00e1n Health Center in Tucum\u00e1n will receive a bracelet with their name, surname and ID card number. The system includes an ID reader, fingerprint and webcam. Through the webcam at the time of admission, the patient will be registered in the hospital's internal management system.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\"This will allow us to have the patient identified at any moment. For example, if anesthesia is administered, the patient is asleep, we need to know who they are and if the procedure is being performed correctly on the person in question. Or if a patient is on a respirator, now especially because of the COVID, it is also very important to know who it is,\" explained Mar\u00eda Marta Vargas, deputy medical director of the hospital.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

This system is expected to begin operating during the first weeks of July. \"The idea is to begin the identification process of the patients through a bracelet that will be put on all those who are admitted to the hospital. This will include the patient's name, surname and ID number. This system is part of one of the objectives of the World Health Organization (WHO) for patient safety, in order to achieve correct identification of those who are treated in the institution,\" said Vargas.<\/p>

The bracelet will be printed when the patient is admitted to the hospital to keep them identified; however, this system will be improved at a later date, such as the addition of a code that links to each patient's medical history.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

El Centro de Salud de la Ciudad de Tucum\u00e1n al noroeste de Argentina, ha implementado un nuevo sistema de identificaci\u00f3n de pacientes a trav\u00e9s de una pulsera que en un futuro contendr\u00e1 un enlace a su historial cl\u00ednico. Todas las personas que sean internadas en el Centro de Salud Zen\u00f3n Santill\u00e1n en Tucum\u00e1n, recibir una pulsera con su nombre, apellido y DNI.  El sistema incluye un lector de DNI, huella digital y c\u00e1mara web. A trav\u00e9s de la c\u00e1mara web al momento de ingresar, el paciente ser\u00e1 registrado en el sistema interno de gesti\u00f3n del hospital. \u201cEsto nos va a permitir tener en todo momento al paciente identificado. Por ejemplo, si se le administra anestesia, est\u00e1 dormido, debemos saber qui\u00e9n es y si se est\u00e1 haciendo el procedimiento de manera correcta a la persona en cuesti\u00f3n. O si un paciente est\u00e1 conectado con respirador, ahora sobre todo por el COVID, tambi\u00e9n es muy importante saber qui\u00e9n es\u201d, explic\u00f3 Mar\u00eda Marta Vargas subdirectora m\u00e9dica del hospital. Se espera que este sistema comience a funcionar durante las primeras semanas de julio. “La idea es iniciar el proceso de identificaci\u00f3n de los pacientes a trav\u00e9s de una pulsera que se la pone a todos aquellos que quedan internados en el hospital. En \u00e9sta va a figurar el nombre, apellido y DNI del paciente. Este sistema forma parte de uno de los objetivos que tiene la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS) para la seguridad de los pacientes, as\u00ed lograr una identificaci\u00f3n correcta de quienes son atendidos en la instituci\u00f3n\u201d, dijo Vargas.
