The Asociaci\u00f3n de Internet MX (AIMX), published in April 2021, the first study on the Habits of Physicians on the Internet in Mexico, with the objective of knowing about how are the current uses, habits and attitudes about the digital ecosystem of physicians in Mexico.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The AIMX, specializes in digital habits research and analysis of internet habits in Mexico. This time they published the first study on the Internet Habits of Doctors in Mexico.<\/p>

The study aimed to know the use that doctors give to the internet in their daily practice, as well as the preferences about its use, motivators. They also analyzed the different segments of doctors by sector, whether private or public, region, age groups, among other data.<\/p>

The study carried out between December 2020 and January 2021, showed that 85% of physicians use the Internet personally and\/or in clinical practice. Of which 35% are women and 65% are men. In terms of age ranges, the largest group of physicians on the Internet corresponds to 55 to 64 years with 28% of the total, followed by 33 to 44 years with 25% and 45 to 54 with 23%.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

On the other hand, regarding the geographical zones and regions of Mexico, the Central South zone (Guanajuato, Quer\u00e9taro, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potos\u00ed and Zacatecas), concentrates 28% of Internet use by physicians, followed by the Northeast (Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Baja California, Sonora, Durango and Baja California Sur).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In private practice, 47% of physicians are connected. Within the public practice, the Ministry of Health concentrates 40% of the doctors who use the Internet and in the private practice, private practices lead with 41% of the users.<\/p>

Other important statistics highlighted in the study were that 62% of connected doctors in Mexico have a specialty, and the growth of telemedicine, which already represents 16% of care in private hospitals.<\/p>

Digital habits<\/strong><\/p>

Regarding the devices used in medical practice, PC and Laptop are the most used, however, virtual assistants are gaining strength. In terms of content consumption habits, most doctors use the Internet to read, watch or listen to relevant content, search for information to prescribe, send and receive instant messages, online courses, search for new products, social networks, or digital medical applications.<\/p>

The three most used social platforms by Mexican physicians are WhatsApp, with 90%, Facebook with 64% and YouTube with 47%. Likewise, the three most visited specialized websites with PLM, with 71%, Vademecum with 66% and Medline\/Pubmed with 65%.<\/p>

Digital Health<\/strong><\/p>

Virtual consultations generally (90%), have been used to make an adjustment in treatment, such as dosage or frequency, to make new diagnoses has only been used by 30% of the physician who have used telemedicine.<\/p>

The main barrier to virtual consultations lies in the need to see the patient physically. The infrastructure and the patient's decision not to accept a virtual consultation are barriers, however, they are far from being the main ones.<\/p>

61% of physicians have electronic medical records, of which 73% have a system that has been specially developed for their hospital, which could become a challenge for the interoperability of the systems.<\/p>

La Asociaci\u00f3n de Internet MX (AIMX), public\u00f3 en abril de 2021, el primer estudio sobre los H\u00e1bitos de los M\u00e9dicos en Internet en M\u00e9xico, con el objetivo de conocer como son actualmente los usos, h\u00e1bitos y actitudes sobre el ecosistema digital de los m\u00e9dicos en M\u00e9xico. La AIMX, se especializa en la investigaci\u00f3n h\u00e1bitos digitales y an\u00e1lisis de an\u00e1lisis h\u00e1bitos en internet en M\u00e9xico. Esta vez publicaron el primer estudio sobre los H\u00e1bitos de los M\u00e9dicos en Internet en M\u00e9xico. El estudio busc\u00f3 conocer el uso que los m\u00e9dicos y m\u00e9dicas le dan al internet dentro de su pr\u00e1ctica diaria, as\u00ed como las preferencias sobre su uso, motivadores. De igual forma analizaron los diferentes segmentos de m\u00e9dicos por sector, ya sea privado o p\u00fablico, regi\u00f3n, rango de edad, entre otros datos. El estudio realizado entre diciembre de 2020 y enero de 2021, mostr\u00f3 que el 85% de los m\u00e9dicos utilizan Internet de manera personal y\/o en la pr\u00e1ctica cl\u00ednica.  De los cuales 35% son mujeres y 65% son hombres. En cuanto a los rangos de edad, el grupo m\u00e1s grande de m\u00e9dicos en Internet corresponde a 55 a 64 a\u00f1os con el 28% del total, seguido de 33 a 44 a\u00f1os con 25% y 45 a 54 con 23%. Por otra parte, en relaci\u00f3n con las zonas y regiones geogr\u00e1ficas de M\u00e9xico, la zona Centro sur (Guanajuato, Quer\u00e9taro, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potos\u00ed y Zacatecas), concentra el 28% del uso de Internet por parte de m\u00e9dicos, seguido por el Noreste (Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Baja California, Sonora, Durango y Baja California Sur). La pr\u00e1ctica privada, cuenta con el 47% de los m\u00e9dicos conectados. Dentro de la pr\u00e1ctica p\u00fablica, la Secretar\u00eda de Salud concentra el 40% de los m\u00e9dicos usuarios de internet y por la pr\u00e1ctica privada, los consultorios particulares llevan la delantera con el 41% de los usuarios. Otras estad\u00edsticas importantes que destacaron en el estudio fueron que el 62% de los m\u00e9dicos conectados en M\u00e9xico cuentan con especialidad, y el crecimiento de la telemedicina que ya representa el 16% de las atenciones en hospitales privados. H\u00e1bitos digitales En cuanto a los dispositivos utilizados dentro de la pr\u00e1ctica m\u00e9dica, PC y Laptop son los m\u00e1s utilizados, sin embargo, los asistentes virtuales toman fuerza. En cuanto a los h\u00e1bitos de consumo de contenido, la mayor\u00eda de los m\u00e9dicos utilizan internet para leer, ver o escuchar contenido relevante, busca informaci\u00f3n para prescribir, enviar y recibir mensajes instant\u00e1neos, cursos en l\u00ednea, b\u00fasqueda de nuevos productos, redes sociales, o aplicaciones m\u00e9dicas digitales. Las tres plataformas sociales m\u00e1s utilizadas por parte de los m\u00e9dicos mexicanos son WhatsApp, con el 90%, Facebook con 64% y YouTube con 47%. As\u00ed mismo, las tres p\u00e1ginas web especializadas m\u00e1s visitadas con PLM, con 71%, Vademecum con 66% y Medline\/Pubmed con 65%. Salud Digital Las consultas virtuales generalmente (90%), se han utilizado para realizar un ajuste en el tratamiento, como la dosis o la frecuencia, para realizar diagn\u00f3sticos nuevos solamente se ha utilizado por el 30% del m\u00e9dico que han utilizado la telemedicina. La principal barrera de las consultas virtuales, recae en la necesidad de ver al paciente f\u00edsicamente. La infraestructura y la decisi\u00f3n del paciente de no aceptar una consulta virtual si son barreras, sin embargo, est\u00e1n lejos de ser las principales. El 61% de los m\u00e9dicos cuenta con expediente cl\u00ednico electr\u00f3nico, de los cuales el 73% cuenta con un sistema que ha sido desarrollado especialmente para su hospital, lo que podr\u00eda transformarse en un reto para la interoperabilidad de los sistemas.
