detection and has recently been cleared as an approved medical device. \u201cUltrasonic sensors on the toe of the shoe detect obstacles up to four meters away. The wearer is then warned by vibration and\/or acoustic signals. In this way, the Rafter Institute for Computer Graphics and Vision has continued to work on adding cameras to the product.  \u201cWe have developed state-of-the-art deep-learning algorithms modelled on neural networks that can do two main things after detecting and interpreting the content of the image. They use camera images from the foot perspective to determine an area that is free of obstacles and thus safe to walk on. And they can recognize and distinguish objects\u201d, explains Friedrich Fraundorfer, one of the scientists at TU Graz involved in the project.<\/p><p>Through the algorithms entered by machine learning and the development of powerful processors, the smart shoes can operate a mobile shoe system. The Austrian company aims for the prototype to include the camera and processor inside the shoe in a comfortable and sturdy form.<\/p><p><strong>A navigation map<\/strong><\/p><p>The next improvement to the system seeks to combine the information each shoe collects into a navigation map. \u201cAs it currently stands, only the wearer benefits in each case from the data the shoe collects as he or she walks. It would be much more sustainable if this data could also be made available to other people as a navigation aid,\u201dFraundorfer explained. De esta forma el Rafter Instituto de Gr\u00e1ficos por Computadora y Visi\u00f3n ha continuado trabajando en la adici\u00f3n de c\u00e1maras al producto. &#8220;Hemos desarrollado algoritmos de aprendizaje profundo de \u00faltima generaci\u00f3n modelados en redes neuronales que pueden hacer dos cosas principales despu\u00e9s de detectar e interpretar el contenido de la imagen. im\u00e1genes desde la perspectiva del pie para determinar un \u00e1rea libre de obst\u00e1culos y, por lo tanto, segura para caminar. Y pueden reconocer y distinguir objetos&#8221;, explica Friedrich Fraundorfer, uno de los cient\u00edficos involucrados en el proyecto por parte de la TU Graz. A trav\u00e9s de los algoritmos entrados por aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico y a el desarrollo de potentes procesadores, los zapatos inteligentes pueden operar un zapato sistema m\u00f3vil. La compa\u00f1\u00eda austriaca busca que el prototipo incluya la c\u00e1mara y el procesador dentro del zapato de una forma c\u00f3moda y resistente. Un mapa de navegaci\u00f3n La siguiente mejora del sistema busca combinar la informaci\u00f3n que cada zapato recopila en un mapa de navegaci\u00f3n. \u201cTal como est\u00e1 actualmente, solo el usuario se beneficia en cada caso de los datos que el zapato recopila mientras camina. Ser\u00eda mucho m\u00e1s sostenible si estos datos tambi\u00e9n pudieran estar disponibles para otras personas como una ayuda para la navegaci\u00f3n\u201d, explic\u00f3 Fraundorfer.
