The Mixed Telehealth parliamentary front in Brazil's Chamber of Deputies is seeking to legislate permanently the regulation of telemedicine, currently authorized exclusively due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Since April last year telemedicine was authorized for use throughout Brazil due to the health emergency. However, the parliamentary group of Telehealth, seeks that such regulations be extended to after the COVID-19 pandemic and a law on the permanent authorization of telemedicine be passed.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Law 13.989, which authorizes the use of telemedicine for the duration of the health emergency, defines telemedicine as: \"the practice of medicine mediated by technologies for the purposes of assistance, research, prevention of diseases and injuries and health promotion\".<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The parliamentary front in favor of Telehealth even offered a few days ago, the virtual seminar \"Teleconsultation in the SUS (Unified Health System): success stories\", to promote the use of new technologies in the health sector. The seminar dealt with topics such as direct teleconsultation to patients in primary care, ophthalmological teleconsultation and teleconsultation in medical specialties.<\/p>

In March, several medical entities disagreed on the proposal that the first consultation of a patient should be done through telemedicine. The concern of the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) lies in the protection of the user's personal data. The first vice-president of the CFM, Donizetti Giamberardino, explained that a resolution will soon be published to regulate telemedicine both in the SUS and in private practices.<\/p>

On the other hand, the president of the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB), C\u00e9sar Fern\u00e1ndez considers that there is no need for the first consultation to be face-to-face and that the physician should decide how he\/she will offer his\/her consultation.<\/p>

The Telehealth Mixed Parliamentary Front will continue to promote permanent legislation on the use of telehealth technologies through legislative project 1998\/20.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

El frente parlamentario Mixto de Telesalud en la C\u00e1mara de Diputados de Brasil, est\u00e1 buscando legislar la regulaci\u00f3n permanente de la telemedicina, actualmente autorizada exclusivamente por la pandemia de COVID-19. Desde abril del a\u00f1o pasado la telemedicina fue autorizada para su uso en todo Brasil debido a la emergencia sanitaria. Sin embargo, el grupo parlamentario de Telesalud, busca que dichas regulaciones se extiendan a despu\u00e9s de la pandemia de COVID-19 y se apruebe una ley sobre la autorizaci\u00f3n permanente de la telemedicina. La Ley 13.989, que autoriza el uso de telemedicina mientras dure la emergencia sanitaria define la telemedicina como: “el ejercicio de la medicina mediada por tecnolog\u00edas con fines asistenciales, de investigaci\u00f3n, prevenci\u00f3n de enfermedades y lesiones y promoci\u00f3n de la salud”. El frente parlamentario a favor de la Telesalud incluso brind\u00f3 hace algunos d\u00edas, el semanario virtual “Teleconsulta en el SUS (Sistema \u00danico de Salud): casos de \u00e9xito”, para la promoci\u00f3n del uso de las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas en el sector salud. En el seminario abordaron temas como la teleconsulta directa a pacientes en atenci\u00f3n primaria, teleconsulta oftalmol\u00f3gica y teleconsulta en especialidades m\u00e9dicas. En marzo diversas entidades m\u00e9dicas estuvieron en desacuerdo sobre la propuesta de que la primera consulta de un paciente se realizara a trav\u00e9s de telemedicina. La preocupaci\u00f3n del Consejo Federal de Medicina (CFM) radica en la protecci\u00f3n de los datos personales del usuario. El vicepresidente primero del CFM, Donizetti Giamberardino, explic\u00f3 que pr\u00f3ximamente se publicar\u00e1 una resoluci\u00f3n que regule la telemedicina tanto en el SUS como en consultorios privados. Por otra parte, el presidente de la Asociaci\u00f3n M\u00e9dica Brasile\u00f1a (AMB), C\u00e9sar Fern\u00e1ndez considera que no existe necesidad de que la primera consulta sea presencial y que el m\u00e9dico deber\u00eda decidir c\u00f3mo ofrecer\u00e1 su consulta.
