On March 16, through a virtual event, four Chilean universities and the National University Network (REUNA), launched the Telemedicine University Network-Chile.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The Universities of Concepci\u00f3n, Chile, Desarrollo and Valpara\u00edso together with REUNA, announced in a virtual conference with more than 100 attendees from different national and international organizations, the creation of the University Network of Telemedicine (RUTE-Chile).<\/p>

\"The purpose of RUTE-Chile is to promote collaboration and synergies between actors of the national and international ecosystem, to accelerate training, research and development in Telemedicine and Telehealth in Chile, with the aim of contributing to the health and welfare of people,\" explains RUTE-Chile on its website.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Dr. Angelica Avenda\u00f1o, director of the Telemedicine Unit of the Faculty of Medicine at the Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, was appointed president of RUTE-Chile. \"There is a conviction among all of us who are involved, and who have been working for a long time on this issue, that it is necessary,\" explained the specialist in Digital Health.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

She also said that it is crucial to recognize the importance of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to reduce the gaps and inequalities in access to healthcare, \"so that people can improve their access and opportunity to receive timely and quality care, especially when they are in remote areas and do not have access to specialists\".<\/p>

\"Telemedicine and telehealth bring with them a series of scientific, economic and social benefits to the countries where they are developed, and for this, the Academic Networks are fundamental, not only by providing the enabling technological base, but also by promoting cooperation between institutions at a global level\", explains the RUTE-Chile statement.<\/p>

In the coming months, RUTE-Chile will provide more information about the collaboration and the addition of more institutions and non-profit organizations to this project. In this way, they seek to develop academic and scientific collaborations related to health that have a high social impact and achieve improvements in people's quality of life.<\/p>

El 16 de marzo a trav\u00e9s de una ceremonia virtual, cuatro universidades chilenas y la Red Universitaria Nacional (REUNA), lanzaron la Red Universitaria de Telemedicina-Chile La Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, la Universidad de Chile, la Universidad del Desarrollo y la Universidad de Valpara\u00edso en conjunto con REUNA, anunciaron en una conferencia virtual con m\u00e1s de 100 asistentes de diferentes organismos nacionales e internacionales, la creaci\u00f3n de la Red Universitaria de Telemedicina (RUTE-Chile). \u201cEl prop\u00f3sito de RUTE-Chile, es promover la colaboraci\u00f3n y sinergias entre actores del ecosistema nacional e internacional, para acelerar la formaci\u00f3n, investigaci\u00f3n y desarrollo en Telemedicina y Telesalud en Chile, con el objetivo de contribuir a la salud y bienestar de las personas\u201d, explica RUTE-Chile en su sitio web. Angelica Avenda\u00f1o, directora de la Unidad de Telemedicina de la Facultad de Medicina en la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, fue nombrada presidenta de RUTE-Chile. \u201cExiste el convencimiento de todos los que estamos involucrados, y que venimos trabajando largo tiempo en esta tem\u00e1tica, de que es necesario\u201d, explic\u00f3 la especialista en Salud Digital. Tambi\u00e9n sostuvo que es crucial reconocer la importancia de las Tecnolog\u00edas de la Informaci\u00f3n y la Comunicaci\u00f3n (TIC) para disminuir las brechas y desigualdades en el acceso a la salud, \u201cpara que las personas mejoren el acceso y oportunidad de recibir atenci\u00f3n oportuna y de calidad, sobre todo cuando est\u00e1n en zonas alejadas y no tienen acceso a especialistas\u201d. \u201cLa telemedicina y telesalud traen consigo una serie de beneficios cient\u00edficos, econ\u00f3micos y sociales a los pa\u00edses donde se desarrolla y para ello, las Redes Acad\u00e9micas son fundamentales, no solo al propiciar la base tecnol\u00f3gica habilitante, sino tambi\u00e9n al fomentar la cooperaci\u00f3n entre instituciones a nivel global\u201d, explica el comunicado de RUTE-Chile.
