Panama's president, Laurentino Cortizo, approved the law that promotes the creation of a Telehealth system across the country.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Bill 313 which was proposed by Panama's Legislative Assembly in October 2020, has been sanctioned by Panama's President Laurentino Cortizo. The main purpose of the law is to decrease the workload in hospitals through remote medicine modalities such as teleconsultations and telemedicine. The approval of the law seeks to support the Ministry of Health (Minsa) and the Social Security Fund (CSS), in their service delivery tasks.<\/p>

\u201cThe Law aims to develop Telehealth, as a method to support the Minsa and the CSS\nin health matters, with the purpose of helping to carry out preventive and\/or initial diagnoses more quickly, monitoring patients remotely,\u201d informed the Presidency of Panama.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Cortizo explained that this is a great law that will bring health services closer to patients in vulnerable areas. \u201cToday I sanctioned the Law that establishes the guidelines for the development of Telehealth in Panama, a law that modernizes access to health and allows Panamanians to have initial preventive diagnoses or patient monitoring more quickly, using technology,\u201d he said on his Twitter account.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The President of the Central American country highlighted the work carried out by Congressman Ra\u00fal Fern\u00e1ndez, main promoter of the law in the Legislative Assembly: \u201cI would like to acknowledge Congressman Fern\u00e1ndez, the president of the Health Commission, V\u00edctor Castillo and the entire National Assembly for voting in favor of this law,\u201d he said.<\/p>

The congressman was present during the passing of the law and expressed the following via Twitter: \u201cTelemedicine will be a tool that will allow all those healthcare professionals to provide their services remotely. This law aims to achieve a fully online healthcare system, where healthcare professionals provide their services remotely\u201d.<\/p>

El presidente de Panam\u00e1, Laurentino Cortizo, aprob\u00f3 la ley que impulsa la creaci\u00f3n de un sistema de Telesalud en todo el pa\u00eds. El proyecto de Ley 313 que fue propuesto por la Asamblea Legislativa de Panam\u00e1 en octubre de 2020, ha sido sancionada por el presidente de Panam\u00e1 Laurentino Cortizo. El prop\u00f3sito principal de la ley es disminuir la carga de trabajo en hospitales a trav\u00e9s de modalidades de medicina a distancia como las teleconsultas y la telemedicina. La aprobaci\u00f3n de la ley busca apoyar al Ministerio de Salud (Minsa) y a la Caja de Seguro Social (CSS), en sus tareas de prestaci\u00f3n de servicios. \u201cLa Ley tiene por objeto desarrollar la Telesalud, como m\u00e9todo de apoyo al Minsa y a la CSS en materia de salud, con el prop\u00f3sito de coadyuvar a la realizaci\u00f3n de diagn\u00f3sticos preventivos y\/o iniciales con mayor celeridad, el monitoreo de pacientes de manera remota\u201d, inform\u00f3 la presidencia de Panam\u00e1. Cortizo, explic\u00f3 que se trata de una gran ley que permitir\u00e1 acercar los servicios de salud a los pacientes de \u00e1reas vulnerables. \u201cHoy sancion\u00e9 la Ley que establece los lineamientos para el desarrollo de la Telesalud en Panam\u00e1, una ley que moderniza el acceso a la salud y permite a los paname\u00f1os tener diagn\u00f3sticos preventivos iniciales o monitoreos de pacientes con mayor rapidez, usando la tecnolog\u00eda\u201d, expres\u00f3 en su cuenta de Twitter. El presidente del pa\u00eds centroamericano, resalt\u00f3 el trabajo realizado por el diputado Ra\u00fal Fern\u00e1ndez, principal impulsor de la ley en la Asamblea Legislativa: “Quiero hacerle un reconocimiento al diputado Fern\u00e1ndez, al presidente de la Comisi\u00f3n de Salud, V\u00edctor Castillo y a toda la Asamblea Nacional por darle el voto favorable a esta ley”, expres\u00f3.
