COVID-19 vaccination processes have started in different regions around the world. Countries must consider different factors when creating a comprehensive strategy for immunization processes, especially on costs. The World Health Organization (WHO) has created a COVID-19 vaccine introduction and deployment costing tool.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The tool is available for use by competent authorities in any country to manage their national strategy: \"The tool is designed to support a rapid but comprehensive estimate of incremental costs. For that purpose, the tool is pre-populated as much as possible using data available from global databases,\" the WHO announcement states.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Through the tool it is possible to record country-specific data, such as the target population of the strategy, delivery parameters, among others. For example, vaccination strategies around the world have identified healthcare workers as the target population for vaccination, at least for the first doses. Subsequently, essential workers such as laboratory personnel, teaching staff, among others.<\/p>

It also allows to calculate vaccination costs per day, considering salaries, training, mobile equipment for vaccination personnel or meals per day.<\/p>

\"The tool is configured by default to support rapid cost estimation in a modular manner. The output of the tool includes estimates, which can be inserted directly into the COVID-19 vaccine introduction preparedness assessment tool,\" WHO explains.<\/p>

These are all areas considered by the WHO tool for starting the vaccination strategy, as well as more than 50 qualitative and quantitative variables:<\/p>

    Esta herramienta calcula los costos de la introducci\u00f3n de estrategias de inmunizaci\u00f3n ante COVID-19 tomando en cuenta m\u00e1s de diez indicadores. Los procesos de vacunaci\u00f3n contra COVID-19 han comenzado en diferentes regiones alrededor del mundo. Los pa\u00edses deben considerar diferentes factores al momento de crear una estrategia integral para los procesos de inmunizaci\u00f3n, especialmente sobre los costos. La Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS) ha creado una herramienta de c\u00e1lculo de costos de introducci\u00f3n y despliegue de la vacuna COVID-19. La herramienta est\u00e1 disponible para que las autoridades competentes de cualquier pa\u00eds puedan utilizarla para gestionar su estrategia a nivel nacional: “La herramienta est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ada para respaldar una estimaci\u00f3n r\u00e1pida, pero completa, de los costos incrementales. Para ese prop\u00f3sito, la herramienta se completa previamente tanto como sea posible, utilizando datos disponibles de bases de datos globales”, menciona el anuncio de la OMS. A trav\u00e9s de la herramienta es posible registrar datos espec\u00edficos sobe el pa\u00eds, como la poblaci\u00f3n a la que va dirigida la estrategia, par\u00e1metros de entrega, entre otros. Por ejemplo, las estrategias de vacunaci\u00f3n alrededor del mundo han identificado al personal de salud como la poblaci\u00f3n a la que va dirigida la vacunaci\u00f3n, al menos las primeras dosis. Posteriormente trabajadores esenciales como personal de laboratorio, personal docente, entre otros. Tambi\u00e9n permite calcular los costos de vacunaci\u00f3n por d\u00eda, considerando salarios, entrenamiento, equipo m\u00f3vil para el personal encargado de la vacunaci\u00f3n o comidas al d\u00eda. \u201cLa herramienta est\u00e1 configurada de forma predeterminada para admitir una estimaci\u00f3n de costos r\u00e1pida de manera modular. El resultado de la herramienta incluye estimaciones, que se pueden insertar directamente en la herramienta de evaluaci\u00f3n de la preparaci\u00f3n para la introducci\u00f3n de la vacuna COVID-19\u201d, explica la OMS.
