False information about the origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the treatment of COVID-19, the use of masks or masks and the content of the vaccine has circulated on the most important social media platforms.<\/p><p>However, the same internet social platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, have implemented filters and campaigns to combat misinformation about the pandemic. For example, the criteria used to remove inaccurate information about COVID-19 generally apply to posts that promote the use of unverified medications or treatments, which could pose a health threat to people who follow the false recommendations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-4b279d6e elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default wpr-particle-no in relation to the infodemic and the spread of fake news on social networks about health Researchers from the University of Cadiz in Spain, published in the <em>The Journal of Medical Internet Research<\/em>, the article entitled: Prevalence of Health Misinformation on Social Media: Systematic Review.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-1052b997 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default wpr-particle-no wpr-jarallax-no wpr-parallax-no wpr-sticky-section-no wpr-equal-height-no\" data-id=\"1052b997\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\"The fundamental role of health misinformation on social media has been recently highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the need for quality and veracity of health messages in order to manage the present public health crisis and the subsequent infodemic,\" the authors mention in relation to the pandemic. \"The lack of control over health information on social media is used as evidence for the current demand to regulate the quality and public availability of online information,\" they explain.<\/p><p>The goal of the study was to identify the main topics on health misinformation and its prevalence on different social media platforms, focusing on a qualitative methodology and the different solutions that are being implemented to curb this public health problem. The authors, conducted a review of articles on health misinformation studies published before March 2019, through PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus and Web of Science.<\/p><p>The top six categories were vaccines with 32%, drugs or smoking with 22%, noncommunicable diseases with 19%, pandemics with 10%, eating disorders with 9%, and medical treatments with 7%. Desde el comienzo de los contagios masivos de COVID-19 el a\u00f1o pasado, y la posterior clasificaci\u00f3n como pandemia, por parte de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud, a inicios de marzo de 2020, ha surgido mucha informaci\u00f3n alrededor de la emergencia sanitaria. Por las m\u00e1s importantes plataformas de redes sociales ha circulado informaci\u00f3n falsa sobre el origen del virus SARS-CoV-2, el tratamiento de COVID-19, el uso de mascarillas o cubrebocas y el contenido de la vacuna. Sin embargo, las mismas plataformas sociales en internet, tales como YouTube, Facebook y Twitter, han implementado filtros y campa\u00f1as para combatir la desinformaci\u00f3n sobre la pandemia. Por ejemplo, los criterios utilizados para eliminar informaci\u00f3n no ver\u00eddica sobre COVID-19, generalmente se aplican a publicaciones que fomenten el uso de medicamentos o tratamientos no verificados, lo que podr\u00eda representar un peligro para la salud de las personas que sigan las falsas recomendaciones. Por otra parte, en el \u00e1mbito acad\u00e9mico han sido publicadas diversas investigaciones en relaci\u00f3n a la infodemia y el flujo de noticias falsas en redes sociales sobre temas de salud y medicina. Investigadores de la Universidad de C\u00e1diz en Espa\u00f1a, publicaron en el Journal of Medical Internet Research, el art\u00edculo titulado: Prevalencia de desinformaci\u00f3n sobre salud en Redes sociales: Revisi\u00f3n Sistem\u00e1tica. \u201cEl papel fundamental de la desinformaci\u00f3n sanitaria en las redes sociales ha sido puesto de manifiesto recientemente por la pandemia de COVID-19, as\u00ed como la necesidad de calidad y veracidad de los mensajes sanitarios para para gestionar la actual crisis de salud p\u00fablica y la infodemia posterior\u201d, mencionan los autores en relaci\u00f3n a la pandemia. \u201cLa falta de control sobre la informaci\u00f3n sanitaria en las redes sociales se utiliza como prueba de la demanda actual de regular la calidad y la disponibilidad p\u00fablica de la informaci\u00f3n en l\u00ednea\u201d, exponen. El objetivo del estudio fue identificar los temas principales sobre desinformaci\u00f3n en salud y su prevalencia en las diferentes plataformas de redes sociales, enfoc\u00e1ndose en una metodolog\u00eda cualitativa y las diferentes soluciones que est\u00e1n siendo implementadas para frenar este problema de salud p\u00fablica. Los autores, realizaron una revisi\u00f3n de art\u00edculos sobre estudios de la desinformaci\u00f3n en salud publicados antes de marzo de 2019, a trav\u00e9s de PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus y Web of Science. Las seis principales categor\u00edas fueron vacunas con 32%, drogas o fumar con 22%, enfermedades no transmisibles con 19%, pandemias con 10%, des\u00f3rdenes alimenticios con 9% y con 7% tratamientos m\u00e9dicos. En cuanto al abordaje de estos temas los acercamientos de investigaci\u00f3n se realizaron a trav\u00e9s de an\u00e1lisis de redes sociales (28%), evaluaci\u00f3n de contenido (26%), evaluaci\u00f3n de calidad (24%), an\u00e1lisis de contenido (16%). En sus resultados los autores resaltaron la mayor prevalencia la desinformaci\u00f3n sobre temas relacionados a productos para fumar y drogas, sin embargo, la desinformaci\u00f3n relacionada a problemas de salud p\u00fablica como las vacunas tambi\u00e9n fue alta. \u201cNuestro estudio ofrece una caracterizaci\u00f3n exhaustiva de los temas de desinformaci\u00f3n sanitaria dominantes y una descripci\u00f3n completa de su prevalencia en las diferentes plataformas de medios sociales, lo que puede orientar futuros estudios y ayudar en el desarrollo de planes de acci\u00f3n de pol\u00edtica digital basados en la evidencia de pol\u00edticas digitales basadas en pruebas\u201d, concluyen.
