Uruguay's Ministry of Public Health has extended remote medical care via telemedicine until February 15, due to the health emergency.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Since March 2020, due to the health emergency, all the institutions of the National Integrated Health System (SNIS) in Uruguay, complied with the provision of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), for the implementation of remote medical consultations through telemedicine or even through home care.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00a0Likewise, the regulation forced the suspension of non-urgent and oncological surgeries, preventive measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19 and the saturation of hospitals. However, these measures only lasted two months, until May 2020.<\/p>

However, on October 20, the measures were applied again, in some areas of Uruguay and finally in Montevideo they were applied again on December 9. Subsequently, MSP resolution 7,467\/021, extended the measures until February 15.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\"Establish telephone or telemedicine consultation as the first line of care, focusing on outpatient, polyclinic and hospitalization resources, ensuring the immediate care of patients affected by the pandemic,\" states the resolution for five departments of Uruguay.<\/p>

Therefore, the modalities of telephone care, video consultations and other platforms for the development of telemedicine will be the main tool to ensure that patients continue their treatment, especially in the current scenario, in which Uruguay has registered unprecedented numbers of infections since the beginning of the pandemic.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

El Ministerio de Salud P\u00fablica de Uruguay, ha extendido hasta el 15 de febrero la atenci\u00f3n medica v\u00eda remota a trav\u00e9s de telemedicina, debido a la emergencia sanitaria. Desde marzo de 2020, ante la emergencia sanitaria, todas las instituciones del Sistema Nacional Integrado de Salud (SNIS) en Uruguay, acataron la disposici\u00f3n del Ministerio de Salud P\u00fablica (MSP), para la implementaci\u00f3n de las consultas m\u00e9dicas a distancia a trav\u00e9s de telemedicina o incluso mediante atenci\u00f3n domiciliaria.  De igual forma la disposici\u00f3n oblig\u00f3 a suspender cirug\u00edas no urgentes ni oncol\u00f3gicas, medidas de prevenci\u00f3n para evitar el contagio de COVID-19 y la saturaci\u00f3n de los hospitales. Sin embargo, estas medidas solamente duraron dos meses, hasta mayo de 2020. No obstante, el 20 de octubre nuevamente las medidas fueron aplicadas, en algunas zonas de Uruguay y finalmente en Montevideo se volvieron a aplicar el 9 de diciembre. Posteriormente la resoluci\u00f3n 7.467\/021 del MSP, extendi\u00f3 las medidas hasta el 15 de febrero. \u201cEstablecer la consulta telef\u00f3nica o de telemedicina como primera l\u00ednea de atenci\u00f3n, focalizando los recursos de atenci\u00f3n presencial ambulatoria, de policl\u00ednicas e internaci\u00f3n, asegurando la atenci\u00f3n inmediata de pacientes afectados por la pandemia\u201d indica la resoluci\u00f3n para cinco departamentos de Uruguay. De esta forma las modalidades de atenci\u00f3n telef\u00f3nica, video consultas y otras plataformas para el desarrollo de la telemedicina, ser\u00e1n la principal herramienta para asegurar que los pacientes contin\u00faen sus tratamientos, especialmente, en el escenario actual, en el cual Uruguay ha registrado cifras r\u00e9cord de contagios desde el inicio de la pandemia.
