In 2020 the big technology companies, committed to Digital Health in response to the pandemic by COVID-19 through digital tools for tracking contacts, or through platforms for data management and research.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The COVID-19 outbreak and its characterization by the World Health Organization as a pandemic in the first half of March 2020, forced governments to respond quickly to mass infections. Similarly, technology companies played an important role in creating digital health technologies for infection control and research.<\/p>

At the beginning of the first mobility restrictions in the United States, Apple launched an update of Siri, its Artificial Intelligence system, with information and conversations about COVID-19. The system could record symptoms and possible exposures, and also recommended telehealth applications.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The system could record symptoms and possible exposures, and recommended telehealth applications. Later, it improved the symptom checker through a tool developed in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In addition, it enabled a website for verified COVID-19 test provider laboratories to record their location to appear in their mapping application update.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

However, one of the most relevant actions of 2020 in Digital Health, was the collaboration within Apple and Google. Both companies jointly developed a COVID-19 contact tracking tool based on interoperable systems. By May, the system was working normally and the exposure notification system was used in several countries of the European Union and in Latin America only in Uruguay.<\/p>

On the other hand, Alphabet Inc, Google's parent company, developed different innovations based on artificial intelligence, data flow and clinical research through its different subsidiaries such as DeepMind and Google Cloud.\u00a0<\/p>

In April Google launched a web platform for community mobility reports, which through anonymous information of locations generated information about the behavior of the population in mobility trends. Later, after the collaboration with Apple, the Google Cloud Healthcare API was launched, a platform to standardize data sharing between cloud-based tools.<\/p>

By December, in one of the last actions of the year, Google announced a Google Health application, for the recruitment of participants in medical research. The first available research was conducted by Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School.<\/p>

Finally, in November Amazon launched a primary health care system based on digital technologies. Amazon Health Lake is a tool that enables health agencies to query and categorize data through automatic learning of information hosted in the cloud, as well as to standardize information in HL7 FHIR.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

En 2020 las grandes compa\u00f1\u00edas tecnol\u00f3gicas, apostaron por la Salud Digital en respuesta a la pandemia por COVID-19 a trav\u00e9s de herramientas digitales de rastreo de contactos, o mediante plataformas para el manejo de datos e investigaci\u00f3n. El comienzo de los contagios de COVID-19 y su caracterizaci\u00f3n por parte de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud como pandemia en la primera mitad de marzo de 2020, obligaron a los gobiernos a ofrecer respuesta r\u00e1pida ante los contagios masivos. De igual manera, las compa\u00f1\u00edas tecnol\u00f3gicas jugaron un papel importante en la creaci\u00f3n de tecnolog\u00edas de Salud Digital para el control de los contagios y para el desarrollo de investigaciones. Al inicio de las primeas restricciones de movilidad en Estados Unidos, Apple lanz\u00f3 una actualizaci\u00f3n de Siri, su sistema de Inteligencia Artificial, con informaci\u00f3n y conversaciones sobre COVID-19. El sistema pod\u00eda registrar s\u00edntomas y posibles exposiciones, adem\u00e1s recomendaba aplicaciones de telesalud. Posteriormente, mejor\u00f3 el verificador de s\u00edntomas a trav\u00e9s de una herramienta desarrollada en conjunto con los Centros para el Control y Prevenci\u00f3n de Enfermedades (CDC). Adem\u00e1s, habilit\u00f3 un sitio web para que laboratorios proveedores verificados de pruebas COVID-19 registraran su ubicaci\u00f3n para as\u00ed aparecer en la actualizaci\u00f3n de su aplicaci\u00f3n de mapas. Sin embargo, una de las acciones m\u00e1s relevantes del 2020 en Salud Digital, fue la colaboraci\u00f3n dentro Apple y Google. Ambas compa\u00f1\u00edas desarrollaron de forma conjunta una herramienta de rastreo de contactos de COVID-19 basado en sistemas interoperables. Hacia mayo, el sistema funcionaba con normalidad y el sistema de notificaciones de exposici\u00f3n fue utilizado en diversos pa\u00edses de la Uni\u00f3n Europea y en Latinoam\u00e9rica solamente en Uruguay. Por otra parte, Alphabet Inc., empresa matriz de Google, desarroll\u00f3 diferentes innovaciones basadas en inteligencia artificial, flujo de datos e investigaci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica a trav\u00e9s de sus diferentes subsidiarias como DeepMind y Google Cloud.  En abril Google lanz\u00f3 una plataforma web para reportes comunitarios de movilidad, que a trav\u00e9s de informaci\u00f3n an\u00f3nima de ubicaciones generaba informaci\u00f3n sobre el comportamiento de la poblaci\u00f3n en las tendencias de movilidad. M\u00e1s adelante, posterior a la colaboraci\u00f3n con Apple, fue lanzado el Google Cloud Healthcare API, una plataforma para estandarizar el compartimiento de datos entre herramientas basadas en la nube. Para diciembre, en una de las \u00faltimas acciones del a\u00f1o, Google anunci\u00f3 una aplicaci\u00f3n de Google Health, para el reclutamiento de participantes en investigaciones m\u00e9dicas. La primera investigaci\u00f3n disponible estuvo a cargo del Boston Children’s Hospital y de la Escuela de Medicina de Harvard. Finalmente, en noviembre Amazon lanz\u00f3 un sistema de atenci\u00f3n primaria en salud basada en tecnolog\u00edas digitales. Amazon Health Lake es una herramienta que dota a los organismos de salud consultar y categorizar datos a trav\u00e9s de aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico de informaci\u00f3n alojada en la nube, as\u00ed como estandarizar la informaci\u00f3n en FHIR de HL7.
