The World Health Organization (WHO), has adopted new educational and training strategies for health personnel, including the use of technologies based on Artificial Intelligence and virtual reality, to combine classroom and online learning experiences.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

WHO Academy is a medium- and long-term plan for learning for adults who work as health care workers, using Digital Health technologies. This approach seeks to generate change through the lifelong learning of health workers, this ambitious strategy plans to reach 10 million students worldwide by 2023.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The WHO initiative for the creation of an academy is related to the deadline of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for 2030, that is, less than a decade. A new focus on learning for impact and developing skills to make the world a healthier place is what WHO is proposing for this strategy. Before them new technologies, digital health tools and mobile health will be important, as well as distance learning, which has been one of the main themes this year worldwide.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cAdvancements in adult learning science present new and enormously effective ways to get critical knowledge to front line health workers and others who need it \u2013 and to verify the competencies they gain \u2013 so they can do their jobs better, increase their impact on improving health, and save lives,\u201d WHO mentioned in the statement of the WHO Academy.<\/p>

WHO Academy will launch its first courses by May 2021, which will be online, however, the physical facilities will be located in Lyon France. The WHO intends it to be an accessible educational center and to be at the forefront of using the latest technologies in digital learning, including tools for both online and face-to-face courses. \u00a0<\/p>

The announcement of this initiative was made in mid-2019, way before the pandemic, however, the strategy was already targeted to guide it towards distance education and online learning, likewise, WHO is also considering other options to make it more accessible to health personnel who do not have access to these means.<\/p>

In addition, in response to the pandemic, the WHO Academy launched a mobile learning application, which is targeted specifically at health care workers. The application is available in seven languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish), and is intended to inform and provide COVID-19 knowledge and tools to healthcare workers, including virtual workshops on patient care. It also has an augmented reality feature for training staff in a course on personal protective equipment.<\/p>

La Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS), ha adoptado nuevas estrategias educativas y de capacitaci\u00f3n para el personal de salud, entre ellas destaca el uso de tecnolog\u00edas basadas en Inteligencia Artificial y realidad virtual, para combinar las experiencias de aprendizaje presencial y en l\u00ednea. WHO Academy es un plan a mediano y largo plazo para el aprendizaje de adultos que se desempe\u00f1an como personal de salud, utilizando tecnolog\u00edas de Salud Digital. Este enfoque busca generar cambios a trav\u00e9s del aprendizaje permanente de los trabajadores del sector salud, esta ambiciosa estrategia planea llegar a 10 millones de estudiantes en todo el mundo para 2023. La iniciativa de la OMS para la creaci\u00f3n de una academia, se relaciona a la fecha l\u00edmite de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS), para 2030, es decir menos de una d\u00e9cada. Un nuevo enfoque en aprender para generar impacto y desarrollar competencias para hacer del mundo un lugar m\u00e1s saludable, es lo que plantea la OMS sobre esta estrategia. Ante ellos las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas, herramientas de Salud Digital y salud m\u00f3vil ser\u00e1n importantes, as\u00ed como el aprendizaje a distancia, que ha sido uno de los principales temas este a\u00f1o a nivel mundial. “Los avances en la ciencia del aprendizaje de adultos presentan formas nuevas y enormemente efectivas de hacer llegar conocimiento cr\u00edtico a los trabajadores de salud de primera l\u00ednea y a otras personas que lo necesitan, y de verificar las competencias que adquieren, para que puedan hacer mejor su trabajo, aumentar su impacto en la mejora de la salud y salva vidas”, mencion\u00f3 la OMS en el anuncio de la WHO Academy. WHO Academy, lanzar\u00e1 sus primeros cursos en mayo de 2021, los cuales ser\u00e1n en l\u00ednea, sin embargo, las instalaciones f\u00edsicas estar\u00e1n ubicadas en Lyon Francia. Por otra parte, en respuesta la pandemia, WHO Academy lanz\u00f3 una aplicaci\u00f3n m\u00f3vil para aprendizaje, y est\u00e1 dirigida especial y espec\u00edficamente a trabajadores de la salud. La aplicaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 disponible en siete idiomas (\u00e1rabe, chino, ingl\u00e9s, franc\u00e9s, portugu\u00e9s, ruso y espa\u00f1ol), y tiene como objetivo informar y brindar los conocimientos y herramientas sobre COVID-19, al personal de salud, esto incluye talleres virtuales sobre cuidados para pacientes.
