The program was established in the province of San Juan and its goal is to provide health professionals in prisons with training in the application of telemedicine tools for the treatment of diabetes and other chronic diseases.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Direction of Plans and Programs of the Government of San Juan, in Argentina, in collaboration with the San Juan Diabetes Program (PROSADIA), provided training in telemedicine and tele-diabetes to health personnel belonging to the Provincial Prison Service. The training was conducted by Lorena Cardozo who serves as the head of the National Telehealth Plan.<\/p>

PROSADIA is the provincial authority in San Juan, in charge of the follow-up and support with the treatment of patients living with diabetes. Through the tele-health platforms, its objective is to strengthen the medical attention to patients, in this case to patients in prisons.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Through the training of the medical staff of the Provincial Prison Service, remote consultations with specialists will be possible, in order to follow up on their treatment. The consultations will last 30 minutes, however, previously the prison health staff will perform an assessment that includes the calculation of BMI, waist circumference, weight and blood pressure.<\/p>

The specialists will decide on the frequency of the consultations and will evaluate the risk factors according to each patient's condition. Likewise, the specialists will determine the insulin treatment depending on the patients and will provide general indications about the care.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

El programa fue implementado en la provincia de San Juan y tiene como objetivo brindar a los profesionales de salud en centros penitenciarios capacitaci\u00f3n para utilizar herramientas de telemedicina para el tratamiento de diabetes y otras enfermedades cr\u00f3nicas. La Direcci\u00f3n de Planes y Programas del Gobierno de San Juan, en Argentina, en colaboraci\u00f3n con el Programa Sanjuanino de Diabetes (PROSADIA), brindaron capacitaciones en telemedicina y tele diabetes al personal de salud perteneciente al Servicio Penitenciario Provincial. La capacitaci\u00f3n se llev\u00f3 a cabo por Lorena Cardozo quien se desempe\u00f1a como titular del Plan Nacional de Telesalud. PROSADIA es la autoridad provincial en San Juan, encargada del seguimiento y apoyo con el tratamiento a pacientes que viven con diabetes. A trav\u00e9s de las plataformas de telesalud, su objetivo es fortalecer la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a los pacientes, en este caso a pacientes que se encuentran en centros penitenciarios. A trav\u00e9s de la capacitaci\u00f3n al personal m\u00e9dico del Servicio Penitenciario Provincial, se podr\u00e1n realizar consultas remotas con especialistas, para darle seguimiento a su tratamiento. Las consultas tendr\u00e1n una duraci\u00f3n de 30 minutos, sin embargo, previamente el personal de salud del centro penitenciario realizar\u00e1 una valoraci\u00f3n que incluye el c\u00e1lculo de IMC, per\u00edmetro de cintura, peso y presi\u00f3n arterial. Los especialistas decidir\u00e1n la periodicidad de las consultas y evaluar\u00e1n los factores de riesgo seg\u00fan el padecimiento de cada paciente. Asimismo, los especialistas determinaran el tratamiento de insulina dependiendo de los pacientes y brindar indicaciones generales sobre los cuidados. A trav\u00e9s de la telemedicina y telesalud, el gobierno de San Juan y sus servicios de salud, buscan acercar la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a las personas en centro penitenciarios y as\u00ed disminuir la movilidad y los traslados a centros de salud.
