Spain's Minister of Health Salvador Illa announced in September that the General Secretariat of Digital Health, and the National Health System (SNS), are working on a national Digital Health Strategy. <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The strategy seeks to boost data analytics in health services in Spain and achieve homogenization of available public health information. Its objectives also include promoting the electronic interoperability of information and health resources, for the development of Digital Health services that support the management and administration of them.<\/p>

\u201cThe coronavirus pandemic has valued the importance of digital health and the need to enhance and optimize health information systems. Much progress has been made in strengthening epidemiological information systems, although further strengthening is needed,\" Illa said. In addition, the minister stressed the importance of digital health technologies when applied massively: \"Digital tools are called to increase life years and improve prognosis and quality of life.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

On the other hand, the Spanish Society of Health Informatics (SEIS) has worked for several years on a comprehensive Digital Health plan. Luciano S\u00e1ez, responsible for this organization, was interviewed by the Spanish ConSalud.es, weeks after presenting report SEIS 2019.<\/p>

He said that the report \u201cis a collaborative work of our Society with the Health Services of each autonomous community, with the Ministry of Health and with Red.es, provides us with a picture of the reality, of the means that are made available to organizations for their digital strategy and the advances in services that are being produced\u201d.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

However, it acknowledged that in 2019, there was a decrease in ICT investment, almost 3% compared to the previous year, so there was a cut of 21 thousand euros. Despite this, in Spain it has experienced improvements in electronic medical history (HCE), electronic prescription, or digitization of diagnostic tests. Currently all health services have HCE, which is available online for 94% of citizens.<\/p>

In the interview, the official noted that \"the technological means of health services have lived up to the situation arising from the pandemic.\" He also recognized that health systems were not prepared for the pandemic challenge.<\/p>

Regarding the creation of the General Secretariat of Digital Health, Illa commented that \u201cIt is very good news that a second-level structure has been created directly depending directly on the Minister of Health to articulate the claimed National Digital Health Strategy.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

El Ministro de Sanidad de Espa\u00f1a, Salvador Illa anunci\u00f3 en septiembre que la Secretar\u00eda General de Salud Digital, y el Sistema Nacional de Sanidad de Salud (SNS), se encuentran trabajando en una estrategia nacional de Salud Digital. La estrategia busca impulsar la anal\u00edtica de datos en los servicios de salud en Espa\u00f1a y lograr homogeneizar la informaci\u00f3n de salud p\u00fablica disponible. Tambi\u00e9n entre sus objetivos destacan impulsar la interoperabilidad electr\u00f3nica de la informaci\u00f3n y los recursos de salud, para el desarrollo de servicios de Salud Digital que apoyen en la gesti\u00f3n y administraci\u00f3n de los mismos. \u201cLa pandemia del coronavirus ha puesto en valor la importancia que tiene la salud digital y la necesidad de potenciar y optimizar los sistemas de informaci\u00f3n en salud. Se ha avanzado mucho en reforzar los sistemas de informaci\u00f3n epidemiol\u00f3gica, si bien es necesario seguir fortaleci\u00e9ndolos”, coment\u00f3 Illa. Adem\u00e1s, el ministro resalt\u00f3 la importancia que tienen y tendr\u00e1n las tecnolog\u00edas de salud digital cuando se apliquen de forma masiva: “Las herramientas digitales est\u00e1n llamadas para aumentar los a\u00f1os de vida y mejorar el pron\u00f3stico y calidad de vida\u201d. Por otra parte, la Sociedad Espa\u00f1ola de Inform\u00e1tica en Salud (SEIS) ha trabajado varios a\u00f1os en un plan integral de Salud Digital. Luciano S\u00e1ez, responsable de esta organizaci\u00f3n fue entrevistado por el medio espa\u00f1ol ConSalud.es, semanas despu\u00e9s de presentar el Informe SEIS 2019. Refiri\u00f3 que el informe \u201ces un trabajo colaborativo de nuestra Sociedad con los Servicios de Salud de cada comunidad aut\u00f3noma, con el Ministerio de Sanidad y con Red.es, nos facilita una foto de la realidad, de los medios que se ponen a disposici\u00f3n de las organizaciones para su estrategia digital y los avances en servicios que se van produciendo\u201d. Sin embargo, reconoci\u00f3 que el 2019, se report\u00f3 una disminuci\u00f3n en la inversi\u00f3n en TIC, casi el 3% comparando con el a\u00f1o anterior, de esta forma existi\u00f3 un recorte de 21 mil euros. A pesar de ello, en Espa\u00f1a ha experimentado mejoras en la historia cl\u00ednica electr\u00f3nica (HCE), la receta electr\u00f3nica, o la digitalizaci\u00f3n de pruebas diagn\u00f3sticas. Actualmente todos los servicios de salud cuentan con HCE, que est\u00e1 disponible en internet para el 94% de los ciudadanos. En la entrevista el funcionario apunt\u00f3 que \u201clos medios tecnol\u00f3gicos de los Servicios de Salud han estado a la altura de la situaci\u00f3n derivada de la pandemia\u201d. Tambi\u00e9n reconoci\u00f3 que los sistemas de salud no estaban preparados para el reto de la pandemia.
