The announcement comes almost a year after the German government passed the Digital Health Act (DVG).<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In October, DVG officially approved the use of two medical applications for healthcare professionals. Officially doctors in Germany have permission to prescribe medical applications to their patients. In this way, Germany marks a milestone thanks to DVG, as they become the first country to get doctors to prescribe medical applications to their patients as part of their treatment.<\/p>

Only applications that are part of the Digital Health Applications directory will achieve accreditation so that physicians can prescribe the use of these tools, the procedure consists of clinical tests led by the Federal Institute of Medicines and Devices Mexico (BfArM).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The first two approved applications are Kalmeda and Velibra. Kalmeda is an application designed for the treatment of tinnitus (ear ringing) through behavioral therapy. It has a structured program that includes relaxation exercises through background sounds and additional information about the condition. Behavioral therapy consists of several months, the number depends on the patients. However, it specifies that there are five levels of nine stages each, which helps patients deal with and reduce ringing in ears.\u00a0<\/p>

Kalmeda may be prescribed by doctors or psychotherapists over the age of 18, as specified on the BfArM site and is available through the App Store for iOS devices and in the Play Store for Android devices.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The other authorized application, Velibra is a web platform-based tool, which specializes in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, agoraphobia and social anxiety disorder. The app offers cognitive behavioral therapy exercises for patients at least 18 years of age. The application was tested through a clinical study involving 139 patients, with one of the conditions mentioned above. The study showed that Velibra was effective as patients who took treatment with professional and platform, suffered from fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression, than those who performed their treatment only with a general doctor.<\/p>

El anuncio llega casi un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s de que el gobierno alem\u00e1n aprob\u00f3 la ley de Salud Digital (DVG, por sus siglas en alem\u00e1n). En octubre, la DVG aprob\u00f3 de forma oficial el uso de dos aplicaciones m\u00e9dicas para profesionales de la salud. Oficialmente los m\u00e9dicos en Alemania tienen permiso para recetar aplicaciones m\u00e9dicas a sus pacientes. De esta forma, Alemania marca un hito gracias a la DVG, ya que se convierten en el primer pa\u00eds en lograr que los m\u00e9dicos prescriban aplicaciones m\u00e9dicas a sus pacientes como parte de su tratamiento. Solamente aplicaciones que forman parte del directorio de Aplicaciones de salud digital lograr\u00e1n la acreditaci\u00f3n para que los m\u00e9dicos puedan recetar el uso de estas herramientas, el procedimiento consta de pruebas cl\u00ednicas que dirige el Instituto Federal de Medicamentos y Dispositivos M\u00e9xico (BfArM, por sus siglas en alem\u00e1n). Las dos primeras aplicaciones aprobadas son Kalmeda y Velibra. Kalmeda es una aplicaci\u00f3n dise\u00f1ada para el tratamiento de tinnitus (zumbido de o\u00eddos) a trav\u00e9s de una terapia conductual. Cuenta con un programa estructurado que incluye ejercicios de relajaci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de sonidos de fondo y adem\u00e1s de informaci\u00f3n adicional sobre el padecimiento. La terapia conductual consta de varios meses, el numero depende de los pacientes. Sin embargo, especifica que son cinco niveles de nueve etapas cada uno, que ayuda a los pacientes a lidiar y reducir el zumbido en o\u00eddos.  Kalmeda puede ser recetado por m\u00e9dicos o psicoterapeutas a mayores de 18 a\u00f1os, seg\u00fan se especifica en el sitio del BfArM y esta disponible a trav\u00e9s de App Store para dispositivos iOS y en Play Store para dispositivos Android. La otra aplicaci\u00f3n autorizada, Velibra es una herramienta basada en plataforma web, que se especializa en el tratamiento de trastorno de ansiedad generalizada, trastorno de p\u00e1nico, agorafobia y trastorno de ansiedad social. La aplicaci\u00f3n ofrece ejercicios de terapia cognitivo-conductual para pacientes de al menos 18 a\u00f1os.      La aplicaci\u00f3n fue probada a trav\u00e9s de un estudio cl\u00ednico en el cual participaron 139 pacientes, con alguna de las condiciones mencionadas anteriormente. El estudio demostr\u00f3 que Velibra fue efectivo ya que los pacientes que llevaron tratamiento con profesional y la plataforma, sufrieron de menos s\u00edntomas de ansiedad y depresi\u00f3n, que aquellos que realizaron su tratamiento solamente con un m\u00e9dico general. A trav\u00e9s de estas dos primeras aplicaciones las autoridades sanitarias en Alemania esperan aprobar m\u00e1s aplicaciones m\u00e9dicas y mejorar la atenci\u00f3n medica digital centrada en el paciente.
