During the World Health Summit, views were shared among panelists on digital collaboration and the importance of data during the COVID-19 pandemic. <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Digital technology is in constant update and improvement, which is why its correct implementation manages to transform health systems in its entirety. Currently it is possible to conduct complex research involving millions of data thanks to technology, it is also possible to perform surgical interventions that were not possible a few years ago.<\/p>

Today, the pandemic opened new discussions on global collaboration on digital transformation and during the world health organization (WHO) meeting, discussions were made on the issue.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Dr Soumya Swaminathan, who serves as WHO's lead scientist, commented: \u201cThere has been a huge fragmentation, a huge multiplication of approaches within countries, between countries. In a pandemic, there is no sense in having solutions which apply only within your own national borders. You have to have solutions that work around the world because people are moving all the time.\u201d<\/p>

WHO has promoted digital solutions or tools, such as the application of contact tracking techniques on mobile devices, and supported countries with limited resources for the development of mobile applications with these features.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

On the other hand, Dr Stella Kyriakides, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety at the European Commission, highlighted the importance of digital tools and are now a reality: \u201cDigital solutions, once a tool of the future, have rapidly become essential as the world has fought to understand, manage and overcome the catastrophic impact of COVID-19,\u201d she explained. \u201cThe pandemic has brought to light the importance of digital technology in medicine and its potential to save lives and support, better, stronger and more equal care systems,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>

In addition, during the meeting they emphasized that the exchange of data and information at the beginning of the pandemic was of critical importance for the current development of COVID-19 vaccines.<\/p>

\u201cWe\u2019ll see the vaccine trial results, but whatever it is, it\u2019s unprecedented o have over 40 vaccines in clinical trials with 10 months of a new virus being discovered,\u201d Swaminathan said.<\/p>

Dr Sally Davies, UK representative and expert in antimicrobial resistance, stressed the relevance of digital collaboration between countries and agencies, and should continue besides of the pandemic: \u201cWe believe that digital collaboration underpins the coordinated systematic approach we need to strengthen health systems and our health care.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Durante la Cumbre Mundial de la Salud se llegaron a compartir puntos de vista entre los panelistas sobre la colaboraci\u00f3n digital y la importancia de los datos durante la pandemia por COVID-19. La tecnolog\u00eda digital se encuentra en actualizaci\u00f3n y mejora constante, es por ello que su implementaci\u00f3n correcta consigue transformar sistemas de salud en su totalidad. Actualmente es posible conducir investigaciones complejas que involucren millones de datos gracias a la tecnolog\u00eda, tambi\u00e9n es posible realizar intervenciones quir\u00fargicas que hace unos a\u00f1os no eran posibles. Actualmente, la pandemia abri\u00f3 nuevos debates sobre la colaboraci\u00f3n global en materia de transformaci\u00f3n digital y durante la reuni\u00f3n realizada por la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS), se habl\u00f3 del tema. La Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, quien se desempe\u00f1a como cient\u00edfica principal de la OMS coment\u00f3 lo siguiente: \u201cHa habido una enorme fragmentaci\u00f3n, una enorme multiplicaci\u00f3n de enfoques dentro de los pa\u00edses, entre pa\u00edses. En una pandemia, no tiene sentido tener soluciones que se apliquen solo dentro de sus propias fronteras nacionales. Debes tener soluciones que funcionen en todo el mundo porque las personas se mueven todo el tiempo\u201d. La OMS ha promovido soluciones o herramientas digitales, como la aplicaci\u00f3n de t\u00e9cnicas de rastreo de contactos en dispositivos m\u00f3viles, y ofreci\u00f3 apoyo a pa\u00edses con recursos limitados para el desarrollo de aplicaciones m\u00f3viles con estas funciones. Por otra parte, la dijo la Dra. Stella Kyriakides, comisionada de Salud y Seguridad Alimentaria de la Comisi\u00f3n Europea, resalt\u00f3 la importancia de las herramientas digitales y que actualmente son una realidad: \u201cLas soluciones digitales, que alguna vez fueron una herramienta del futuro, se han vuelto r\u00e1pidamente esenciales a medida que el mundo ha luchado por comprender, gestionar y superar el impacto catastr\u00f3fico del COVID-19\u201d explic\u00f3.  \u201cLa pandemia ha sacado a la luz la importancia de la tecnolog\u00eda digital en la medicina y su potencial para salvar vidas y apoyar sistemas de atenci\u00f3n mejores, m\u00e1s fuertes y m\u00e1s equitativos\u201d, concluy\u00f3. Adem\u00e1s, durante la reuni\u00f3n destacaron que el intercambio de datos e informaci\u00f3n al inicio de la pandemia, fue de critica importancia para el actual desarrollo de las vacunas contra COVID-19. \u201cVeremos los resultados del ensayo de vacunas, pero sea lo que sea, no tiene precedentes tener m\u00e1s de 40 vacunas en ensayos cl\u00ednicos con 10 meses de descubrimiento de un nuevo virus\u201d, dijo Swaminathan. La Dra. Sally Davies, representante del Reino Unido experta en resistencia de agentes antimicrobianos, destac\u00f3 la relevancia que tiene la colaboraci\u00f3n digital entre pa\u00edses y organismos, y que debe continuar as\u00ed independientemente de la pandemia: \u201cCreemos que la colaboraci\u00f3n digital sustenta el enfoque sistem\u00e1tico coordinado que necesitamos para fortalecer los sistemas de salud y nuestra atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica\u201d.
