The COVID-19 pandemic has repositioned digital transformation strategies on the agendas of Latin American governments, especially in the health sector where the digitization of health systems can generate multiple benefits.<\/p>

During the virtual event held from 13 to 16 October, topics on economic development and social welfare, digital transformation into government and health systems, collaborations between public and private sectors, the role of citizens in health and the economy as drivers of social development were addressed.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

On these issues, talks arose on the digital transformation processes in Latin America, and how governments must invest in connectivity and infrastructure to bridge the gap. In response, experts agreed that the public and private sectors must make functional collaborations.<\/p>

In his participation, Marcelo D'Agostino, who serves as Senior Advisor on Information Systems and Digital Health at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), emphasized that transformation processes begin from higher education. \u201cIt is essential that the academy already educates on areas such as information analysis and interoperability so that new professionals in the sector can implement such tools. Finally, digital transformation must rely on strategic communication to achieve strong actions and combat harmful phenomena, such as the infodemic.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

On the management of the pandemic and how technology, data science and digital media have been tools used by various governments in Latin America, Juan Gil, advisor to the Ministry of Public Health of Uruguay, highlighted the work done in his country, \u201ca digital strategy was designed that generated that people could report symptoms and once they had symptoms a passage to the health receiver was generated\u201d.<\/p>

D'Agostino explained that the pandemic \u201caccelerated awareness of the need for a change to change the digital transformation of the world. I think if there's one thing everyone could ask for today, it's connectivity. Durante un evento virtual organizado por una compa\u00f1\u00eda farmac\u00e9utica se reunieron expertos en sistemas de informaci\u00f3n en salud, periodistas especializados y autoridades de organismos internacionales La pandemia por COVID-19, ha reposicionado a las estrategias de transformaci\u00f3n digital en las agendas de los gobiernos latinoamericanos, en especial en el sector salud donde la digitalizaci\u00f3n de los sistemas de salud puede generar m\u00faltiples beneficios. Durante el evento virtual realizado del 13 al 16 de octubre, se abordaron temas sobre el desarrollo econ\u00f3mico y el bienestar social, transformaci\u00f3n digital en gobierno y sistemas de salud, colaboraciones entre sectores p\u00fablico y privado, el rol de los ciudadanos en la salud y la econom\u00eda como conductores de desarrollo social. Sobre esos temas, surgieron conversaciones sobre el proceso de transformaci\u00f3n digital en Am\u00e9rica Latina, y c\u00f3mo los gobiernos deben invertir en conectividad e infraestructura para lograr reducir brecha. Ante ello expertos coincidieron en que los sectores p\u00fablico y privado deben realizar colaboraciones funcionales. En su participaci\u00f3n, Marcelo D\u2019Agostino quien se desempe\u00f1a como Asesor senior de Sistemas de Informaci\u00f3n y Salud digital en la Organizaci\u00f3n Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), hizo \u00e9nfasis en que los procesos de transformaci\u00f3n comienzan desde la educaci\u00f3n superior. \u201cEs esencial que la academia eduque desde ya sobre \u00e1reas como el an\u00e1lisis de informaci\u00f3n y la interoperabilidad para que los nuevos profesionales del sector lleguen a implementar este tipo de herramientas. Finalmente, la transformaci\u00f3n digital debe apoyarse en la comunicaci\u00f3n estrat\u00e9gica para lograr acciones s\u00f3lidas y luchar contra fen\u00f3menos perjudiciales, como la infodemia\u201d. D\u2019Agostino explic\u00f3 que la pandemia \u201caceler\u00f3 la concientizaci\u00f3n de la necesidad de que es necesario un cambio la transformaci\u00f3n digital del mundo. Yo creo que, si hay algo que todo el mundo pudiera pedir hoy, es conectividad. Eso requiere que el sector salud entienda m\u00e1s de telecomunicaciones pero que el sector de telecomunicaciones entienda m\u00e1s del sector salud, y que haya una mesa de di\u00e1logo donde se tomen decisiones de manera colectiva, y que todo eso despu\u00e9s se transforme en normativas, en legislaci\u00f3n, porque podemos llevar conectividad, pero si la legislaci\u00f3n no autoriza a tener medicina es lo mismo que nada.
