Iranian researchers, from the University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, published the paper The Impact of Mobile Health on Cancer Screening: A Systematic Review<\/em>. The authors consider that emerging technologies such as mobile health can be used for cancer screening. So, their study focused on examining how effective mobile health apps are for cancer screening.<\/p>

The method used consisted of the review of five databases, for the systematic review of study literature related to the use of mobile health applications in cancer screening. In addition, it was set from 1 January 2008 to 31 January 2019. The search result showed a total of 23 articles that met the inclusion criteria and were subsequently reviewed for evaluation.<\/p>

According to the review carried out by the authors, mobile health or mHealth<\/em> \u201cmHealth can improve continuous health monitoring of both populations and individuals. mHealth has the potential to improve health outcome, support chronic disease self-management, reduce cost, enhance efficiency and decrease the number of patient visits to healthcare facilities, and provide on-demand, localized and personalized interventions.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The authors highlight the role of mobile health in detecting cancers or cancer producers at an early stage, prior to symptoms. \u201cmHealth technologies play an important role in helping cancer patients to become active participants in their care. Given the ubiquity of mobile devices and the omnipresent wireless connectivity, mHealth solutions have the capability to provide just-in-time support that is both adaptive and targeted to user needs.\u201d<\/p>

Such solutions are often used for patient-centered planning and generation, such as controlling the late effects of cancer and its treatments, as well as promoting changes that benefit patient quality of life and behavior.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cThe development of mHealth applications in cancer screening is a low-cost and easy-to-use strategy that appears to be appreciated by patients and caregivers, and which could potentially improve the quality of healthcare,\u201d the authors mention in the article.<\/p>

Finally, the results obtained in the literature review identified that all articles mentioned positive effects in their analyses on applications in cancer screening. In general, the mobile applications used had various functions such as providing information, planning and education to patients, so they offered improvements in the quality of life of the patient.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Estudio publicado en Sage Journals, tuvo como objetivo estudiar la eficacia de las aplicaciones de salud m\u00f3viles en la detecci\u00f3n del c\u00e1ncer Investigadores iran\u00edes, de la Universidad de Ciencias M\u00e9dicas de Teher\u00e1n, publicaron el art\u00edculo El impacto de la salud m\u00f3vil en la detecci\u00f3n del c\u00e1ncer: una revisi\u00f3n sistem\u00e1tica. Los autores consideran que tecnolog\u00edas emergentes como la salud m\u00f3vil pueden ser utilizadas para la detecci\u00f3n del c\u00e1ncer. Por lo que su estudio se enfoc\u00f3 en examinar qu\u00e9 tan eficaces son las aplicaciones m\u00f3viles de salud para la detecci\u00f3n de c\u00e1ncer. El m\u00e9todo utilizado consisti\u00f3 en la revisi\u00f3n de cinco bases de datos, para la revisi\u00f3n sistem\u00e1tica de literatura de estudio relacionados con el uso de aplicaciones de salud m\u00f3vil en la detecci\u00f3n de c\u00e1ncer. Adem\u00e1s, se fij\u00f3 un lapso del 1 de enero del 2008 al 31 de enero del 2019.  El resultado de la b\u00fasqueda arroj\u00f3 un total de 23 art\u00edculos que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusi\u00f3n y fueron revisados posteriormente para su evaluaci\u00f3n. Seg\u00fan la revisi\u00f3n realizada por los autores la salud m\u00f3vil o mHealth \u201cpuede mejorar el monitoreo continuo de la salud tanto de las poblaciones como de las personas. mHealth tiene el potencial de mejorar los resultados de salud, apoyar el autocontrol de enfermedades cr\u00f3nicas, reducir los costos, mejorar la eficiencia y disminuir el n\u00famero de visitas de pacientes a los centros de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica, y brindar intervenciones a pedido, localizadas y personalizadas\u201d. Los autores resaltan el papel de la salud m\u00f3vil para detectar c\u00e1nceres o productores del c\u00e1ncer en una etapa temprana, previo a los s\u00edntomas. \u201cLas tecnolog\u00edas de mHealth desempe\u00f1an un papel importante para ayudar a los pacientes con c\u00e1ncer a participar activamente en su atenci\u00f3n. Dada la ubicuidad de los dispositivos m\u00f3viles y la conectividad inal\u00e1mbrica omnipresente, las soluciones de mHealth tienen la capacidad de brindar soporte justo a tiempo que es tanto adaptable como dirigido a las necesidades del usuario\u201d. Este tipo de soluciones suelen utilizarse para la generaci\u00f3n y de planificaciones centradas en pacientes, como controlar los efectos tard\u00edos del c\u00e1ncer y sus tratamientos, as\u00ed como promover cambios que beneficien la calidad de vida y el comportamiento de los pacientes. \u201cEl desarrollo de aplicaciones de mHealth en la detecci\u00f3n del c\u00e1ncer es una estrategia de bajo costo y f\u00e1cil de usar que parece ser apreciada por pacientes y cuidadores, y que potencialmente podr\u00eda mejorar la calidad de la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica\u201d, mencionan en el art\u00edculo. Finalmente, los resultados obtenidos en la revisi\u00f3n de literatura, se identific\u00f3 que todos los art\u00edculos mencionaban efectos positivos en sus an\u00e1lisis sobre las aplicaciones en la detecci\u00f3n de c\u00e1ncer. En general, las aplicaciones m\u00f3viles utilizadas ten\u00edan diversas funciones como brindar informaci\u00f3n, planificaci\u00f3n y educaci\u00f3n a los pacientes, por lo que de ofrec\u00edan mejoras en la calidad de vida del paciente.
