This innovation is part of the Language Technology Boost Plan of the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in Spain.<\/p><p>For the development of the algorithm will take as the basis 3 thousand 51 clinical reports of 2 thousand 440 patients of COVID-19 who were cared for at Hospital Cl\u00ednic during the first wave of contagions in Spain. Through these reports, they will seek to train the AI model through deep learning neural networks, which will find similar patterns in the evolution of the disease in new patients, and will also generate predictions of what its evolution will look like.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section case can be applied in more hospitals, is that they must be trained with large amounts of data, which only large hospitals can access.<\/p><p>The head of Medical Informatics at Hospital Cl\u00ednic, Xavier Pastor explained that the pandemic has promoted the possibility of collaboration between institutions for health research, which also supports the decision-making of health professionals. \u201cAll procedures have been extremed to preserve the confidentiality of health data through technological, organizational, legal solutions and subjecting the project to the consideration of the Ethics Committee, which has delivered its favorable opinion.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section will be able to obtain added value to the great effort of the health professionals who have used, without interruption, the computerized medical history as a real-time documentary record of the situation of each patient, the actions that have been carried out and the results obtained\".<\/p><p>Furthermore, Alfonso Valencia director of the Life Sciences department of the BSC highlighted the importance of clinical reports for future collaborations with more hospitals: \u201cClinical reports of COVID-19 cases contain essential information to analyze disease evolution, response to treatment and previous conditions of patients that may have been risk factors. Para el desarrollo del algoritmo tomar\u00e1n como base 3 mil 51 informes cl\u00ednicos de 2 mil 440 pacientes de COVID-19 que fueron atendidos en el Hospital Cl\u00ednic durante la primera ola de contagios en Espa\u00f1a. A trav\u00e9s de estos informes, buscar\u00e1n entrenar el modelo de IA a trav\u00e9s de redes neuronales de aprendizaje profundo, el cual encontrar\u00e1 patrones similares en la evoluci\u00f3n de la enfermedad en los nuevos pacientes, y adem\u00e1s generar\u00e1 predicciones de c\u00f3mo ser\u00e1 su evoluci\u00f3n. La caracter\u00edstica esencial para que este tipo de modelos funcionen y en este caso puedan aplicarse en m\u00e1s hospitales, es que deben ser entrenados con grandes cantidades de datos, aspecto a los que solo los hospitales grandes pueden tener acceso. El responsable de Inform\u00e1tica M\u00e9dica del Hospital Cl\u00ednic, Xavier Pastor explic\u00f3 que la pandemia ha impulsado la posibilidad de la colaboraci\u00f3n entre instituciones para la investigaci\u00f3n en salud, que apoye adem\u00e1s la toma de decisiones de los profesionales de la salud. \u201cSe han extremado todos los procedimientos para para preservar al m\u00e1ximo la confidencialidad de los datos de salud mediante soluciones tecnol\u00f3gicas, organizativas, legales y sometiendo el proyecto a la consideraci\u00f3n del Comit\u00e9 \u00c9tico, que ha emitido su dictamen favorable. Adem\u00e1s, destac\u00f3 la importancia de la historia cl\u00ednica digital para el desarrollo de la base de informaci\u00f3n: \u201cCon esta colaboraci\u00f3n se podr\u00e1 obtener un valor a\u00f1adido al gran esfuerzo de los profesionales de la Salud que en condiciones excepcionales han utilizado, sin interrupci\u00f3n, la historia cl\u00ednica informatizada como registro documental en tiempo real de la situaci\u00f3n de cada paciente, de las actuaciones que se le han realizado y de los resultados obtenidos\u201d. Por otra parte, Alfonso Valencia director del departamento de Ciencias de la Vida del BSC resalt\u00f3 la importancia de los informes cl\u00ednicos para futuras colaboraciones con m\u00e1s hospitales: \u201cLos informes cl\u00ednicos de casos de COVID-19 contienen informaci\u00f3n imprescindible para analizar la evoluci\u00f3n de la enfermedad, la&nbsp;respuesta a tratamiento&nbsp;y las condiciones anteriores de los pacientes que puedan haber sido factores de riesgo.
