The Telehealth program of the Bolivian Ministry of Health has reintegrated telemedicine services to Viedma Hospital, a third level health center, which has various medical specialties and is also the most important hospital in that region of Bolivia. The implementation of telemedicine services will give access to care services with specialists remotely to primary and secondary care hospitals in the 47 municipalities of Cochabamba and others nationwide.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Viedma hospital has the capacity to provide consultations for more than 80 specialties, \u201cby reincorporating the tools into the hospital, more specialists are available to the population,\u201d explained the national responsible for Telehealth, Juan Pablo Escalera.<\/p>

In Cochabamba there are 39 primary care hospitals with telehealth equipment and eight second-level hospitals. The equipment consists of a digital device with reading of vital signs, electrocardiogram, digital ultrasound, digital ophthalmoscope, among others, that show images and data in real time, for the specialist to interpret remotely.<\/p>

Christian G\u00f3mez, director of Viedma Hospital, highlighted the benefits that telemedicine represents, \u201cit allows our specialists to be in contact from this point with first and second level doctors in other places and in this way the patient no longer has to go to the hospital\u201d.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Telehealth strategy in Cochabamba had started in 2015, when the equipment was installed at Viedma Hospital more than five years ago. However, he was later relocated to other health units. Esta acci\u00f3n brindar\u00e1 atenci\u00f3n y asesoramiento especializado a distancia a los hospitales de primer y segundo nivel en los 47 municipios del departamento de Cochabamba y a nivel nacional. El hospital Viedma tiene capacidad para brindar consultas de m\u00e1s de 80 especialidades, \u201cal reincorporarse al Viedma se ampl\u00edan m\u00e1s especialistas al alcance de la poblaci\u00f3n\u201d, explic\u00f3 el responsable nacional de Telesalud, Juan Pablo Escalera. En Cochabamba existen 39 hospitales de primer nivel de atenci\u00f3n que cuentan con equipo de telesalud y ocho de segundo nivel. El equipo consiste en un dispositivo digital con lectura de signos vitales, electrocardiograma, ec\u00f3grafo digital, oftalmoscopio digital, entre otros, que muestran im\u00e1genes y datos en tiempo real, para que el especialista interprete de manera remota.
