The boom of telemedicine during 2020 has increased its value in Latin America, however, experts assure that it is time for the countries of the region to export telemedicine. <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Telehealth and telemedicine services represent the possibility of reducing the burden on the health system. There is the opportunity to make remote inquiries through digital platforms or through telecommunications services.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

The objective of telemedicine in the current context of COVID-19 and in general, does not seek to replace traditional medical appointments, but as an alternative that can solve several problems, such as providing remote services to remote communities, offering consultations with specialists from other parts of the world, provide remote health services to localities affected by natural disasters or in the case of COVID-19 to avoid crowds in health centers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

According to Juan Blyde, Lead Economist of the Integration and Trade Sector of the Inter-American Development Bank, Latin American countries should prepare to export telemedicine services, especially given the growing supply of this type of services in recent years, which has accelerated in recent months for the pandemic.<\/p>

Telemedicine in the Latin American market is estimated to grow 17.2% this year. Which represents a total value of 2.5 million dollars. In 2015, telemedicine in Latin America had a value of $ 1.13 million, so if the estimates are met, in five years it will have increased its value by more than 100%.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In a survey carried out by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2015, it was shown that in nine Latin American countries 67 types of telemedicine practices were found in various specialties. However, only in Peru, Argentina and Mexico did services involve actors in two different countries.<\/p>

Blyde identifies three main barriers that prevent the export of medical services in the region. First the technological factors, the lack of interoperable tools in the computer systems of the countries involved. Second, the laws and regulations that govern each country, since in some countries, health professionals cannot provide their services beyond their borders. Another important point is the difference between clinical records, and the protection of patient data. And finally, the differences between culture and languages, as well as different contexts.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

El auge de la telemedicina durante el 2020 ha incrementado su valor en Latinoam\u00e9rica, sin embargo, expertos aseguran que es momento que los pa\u00edses de la regi\u00f3n exporten telemedicina. Los servicios de telesalud y telemedicina, representan la posibilidad de reducir la carga al sistema de salud. Existe la oportunidad de realizar consultas a distancia a trav\u00e9s de plataformas digitales o por medio de servicios de telecomunicaciones.  El objetivo de la telemedicina en el contexto actual de COVID-19 y en general, no busca reemplazar las consultas tradicionales con los m\u00e9dicos, sino como una alternativa que puede resolver diversos problemas, como brindar servicios remotos a comunidades alejadas, ofrecer consultas con especialistas de otros lugares del mundo, proveer servicios de salud a distancia a localidades afectadas por desastres naturales o en el caso de COVID-19 para evitar aglomeraciones en centros de salud. Seg\u00fan Juan Blyde, economista L\u00edder del Sector de Integraci\u00f3n y Comercio del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo, los pa\u00edses latinoamericanos deben prepararse para exportar servicios de telemedicina sobre todo ante la creciente oferta de este tipo de servicios en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os que se vio acelerada los \u00faltimos meses por la pandemia. Se estima que la telemedicina en el mercado latinoamericano crezca un 17,2% este a\u00f1o. Lo que representa un valor total de 2.5 millones de d\u00f3lares. En 2015 la telemedicina en Latinoam\u00e9rica ten\u00eda un valor de 1.13 mdd, por lo que, si se cumplen las estimaciones, en cinco a\u00f1os habr\u00e1 incrementado su valor en m\u00e1s del 100%. En una encuesta realizada por la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS) en 2015, se mostr\u00f3 que en nueve pa\u00edses de Latinoam\u00e9rica se encontraron 67 tipos de pr\u00e1cticas de telemedicina en diversas especialidades. Sin embargo, solo en Per\u00fa, Argentina y M\u00e9xico los servicios involucraban actores en dos pa\u00edses distintos.
