Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires offers course about interoperability principles and healthcare standards

The Virtual Campus of the Instituto Universitario Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires (IUHIBA) will offer a virtual course. Starts on June 10.

The virtual postgraduate course entitled: "Principles of Interoperability and Standards in Healthcare" will start on June 10 and end on September 2, with a 60-hour course load. The course is designed for professionals and engineers from different disciplines who are interested in learning how to solve interoperability problems between different healthcare information systems.

The course will be developed virtually through a pedagogical model of collaborative learning mediated by technology, so that teachers and students can interact remotely. In addition, in the virtual classrooms, participants will be part of a learning group guided by a tutor, to encourage individual and collective learning.

"This educational environment is based on a pedagogical model of collaborative learning mediated by technology, in which teachers and students interact using the Internet as a support. This digital environment can be accessed without time restrictions, according to the availability of the participants and until the end date of the course," explains IUHIBA.

The presentation of the topics will be developed through clinical cases, the participant will have to work on the resolution of cases that will be close to the reality of the field where he/she works professionally.

The study plan has four blocks:

  • Introduction to interoperability and standards in health information systems.
  • Syntactic interoperability
  • Semantic interoperability
  • Architecture and Integration of Standards
