Telemedicine in San Luis Potosí generated savings of more than 6 million for patients

From January to date, a total of 1,447 telemedicine consultations have been carried out in San Luis Potosí, which represents a saving of more than 6 million pesos for patients, by avoiding transfers to health centers and high costs in medical consultations. .

Telemedicine continues to be strengthened in the state of San Luis Potosí, teleconsultations have managed to bring the population of remote communities and populations with limited access to health services closer to receiving quality care. In this way, saturation in outpatient services in General Hospitals is also avoided, and it also reduces patient costs in long transfers.

Currently, telemedicine in San Luis has four main specialties, which are internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, and gynecology. In addition, more than 15 subspecialties are also available, such as pediatric neurology, psychiatry, perinatology, neurology, among others.

Between eight Basic Community hospitals, 11 CEREDI and CREE health centers, and the Central Hospital, there are 28 videoconference units to carry out teleconsultations. These health centers are part of the network of Telehealth hospitals in the state of San Luis Potosí.

On the other hand, this year a pilot program was implemented for social workers to schedule appointments with specialists at the Central Hospital through mobile phones. This system seeks to reduce absences by patients to their consultations, who receive constant updates on their medical appointments in their email.

Through data analysis processes, the system aims to improve efficiency, reduce patient absences, and streamline appointment scheduling processes to free up the workload of social workers.
