Mayo Clinic program will support four Artificial Intelligence startups

Mayor Clinic has an accelerator program for new health technology companies, the first cohort includes four startups and will last 20 weeks.

Mayo Clinic Platform_Accelerate is a program that supports startups related to technology and health. This Mayo Clinic accelerator program offers 20-week attention to early-stage Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects.

In addition, Mayo Clinic provides guidance through its subject matter experts on regulatory, clinical, technological and business terms, with an AI model. These experts include specialists from Google and Epic, who will provide their services to program participants through workshops.

In this sense, the selected companies will work with experts in data science to verify their AI models and evaluate a possible authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

"New health technology companies are critical contributors to the innovation cycle," said John Halamka, president of the Mayo Clinic Platform. In addition, he explained that Mayo Clinic is excited to collaborate to solve problems and test solutions for the most complex problems in medicine today.

The first participating startups are:

  • Cliexa, which designs data-centric solutions for people with cardiovascular problems and chronic diseases.
  • Quadrant Health, which analyzes electronic health records and patient messages to predict potential health events before they occur.
  • ScienceIO aims to develop tools for process optimization in healthcare and reduce the administrative workload on physicians.
  • Seer Medical seeks to develop models for the diagnosis and management of epilepsy at home, and to create digital biomarkers that are capable of predicting seizures.

“We help participants take a crucial step in their growth trajectory by providing startups with a disciplined approach to model validation and clinical preparation to show product value,” said Eric Harnisch, Vice President of Partner Programs. from the Mayo Clinic Platform.

Participating startups will be evaluated to explore eligibility to partner with the Mayo Clinic Platform on future projects.

Additionally, Mayo Clinic Platform_Accelerate announced that the next cohort has an open waiting list and will begin in the summer of 2022.
