PLOS launches a new scientific journal focused on Digital Health

The new scientific journal PLOS Digital Health, was announced on January 18, 2022, and aims to publish medical studies and research on Digital Health, Artificial Intelligence in health, prioritizing new authors, minorities and new perspectives.

Founded in 2001, PLOS is a nonprofit publisher that promotes open access to scientific studies and provides the opportunity for researchers to accelerate the progress of medical research. In addition, it promotes the availability of open data and its importance.

The new PLOS Digital Health publication aims to broaden the reach of Digital Health publications, specifically with the publication of studies from low- and middle-income countries, so that they can generate data at the same rate as their high-income counterparts.

In this sense, PLOS Digital Health promotes the diversification of authors, perspectives, populations. The purpose of which is to strengthen the research capacity of countries with fewer resources and increase their representation in the scientific community thanks to the publication of their research.

In this way, in PLOS Digital Health, you will see publications on how digital health systems can be applied in a greater number of countries, thanks to more diverse clinical trials, observational studies, among others.

“The academy must strengthen diversity and inclusion among its leaders, as well as among those who contribute their thoughts and perspectives in publishing form. Likewise, our goal is to foster a culture of fairness, innovation and excellence, and as we move forward”, explains Leo Anthony Celi, editor-in-chief of PLOS Digital Health.
